Oughtrington Community Orchard Lymm

Oughtrington Community Orchard is located behind Oughtrington Community Centre and the Rectory, off Oughtrington Crescent. The orchard was originally used as a kitchen garden, but had fallen into disuse for many years. A group of volunteers has been restoring it and over the last 6 years has planted nearly 40 new fruit trees with the support of Lottery money. We run a Produce Show in September every year and also have an apple press which is available to borrow for 10 a day. The group welcome new volunteers. Friends of Spud Wood Lymm

Friends of Spud Wood. The newly formed friends of Spud Wood group is part of Low Carbon Lymm, it brings together a number of local residents that are interested in improving Spud Wood with the support of the Woodland Trust site manager. The initial objective of the group would be to undertake some woodland management work with the aim of increasing species diversity, improving the character of the wood, enabling good quality standard trees to develop and look to undertake some selective planting of new trees and wildflowers to improve the flora in the wood and provide more foraging opportunities. This would be achieved through coppicing of hazel and by selective felling and planting of new trees such as crab apples. If you are interested in getting involved or for more information e-mail or view the website
